About the Event

The second annual WPS Bathurst Motor Festival (BMF) was held at Mount Panorama, Bathurst over the period 06 to 08 April 2007 (Easter Long Weekend). The Event aimed to build on the inaugural Event in 2006, through increased racing action, improved on & off track entertainment, participation of national car and bike clubs, initiation of a corporate VIP experience and the re-establishment of the 12 Hour Race for Production Cars.

On track over the three days, over 27,000 spectators witnessed 17 hours of racing by way of the 12 Hour Race supported by Aussie Racing Cars, Australian GT Championship,  Historic Touring Cars and Commodore Cup Cars. In total, almost 200 race vehicles participated during the Event including 32 starters in the WPS Bathurst 12 Hour Race.

The Outright Winners of the WPS  Bathurst 12 Hour were Garry Holt, Paul Morris and Craig Baird in a BMW 335i. Spectators were also treated to extended Entertainment Sessions featuring drifting displays, FMX demonstrations, stunt bikes and a range of spectacular burn out vehicles. Occurring concurrently with the Entertainment Sessions was the opportunity for spectators to participate in a hot lap of the Circuit in a V8 or undertake a rally car ride on a purpose built track within the Circuit. Away from the Circuit, attractions including autograph sessions, manufacturer displays, car & bike displays, a dedicated Kids Zone and a round of the FMX   National Championship.

The third annual BMF will move to a new date in February, avoiding potential clashes with other national motorsport events and offering greater opportunites associated with the WPS 12 Hour Race. The Event will continue the concept of combining historical and contempory race cars in a relaxed festival atmosphere at the Home of Motor Sport – Mount Panorama. In 2008, the BMF will unveil a range of initiatives associated with additional historical elements, increased on and off track entertainment and establish the WPS 12 Hour.

The BMF will be promoted and managed by a Joint Venture comprising the Bathurst Regional Council (BRC) and Global Entertainment Team (GET) – a combination of motoring passion, local knowledge and sports and automotive marketing experience.
